Good, but not Oscar-worthy. Blasphemy? Perhaps, but you know that if Ledger hadn't died, there wouldn't be so much discussion about Oscars and other such awards.

More later, gotta run Ronan to the big dog park.

I haven't been using my camera as much as I would like. Just haven't been inspired lately

Ronan discovered that he loves water today.

I went to 2 parties (bridal and birthday) today. Carl represented at another birthday party that I couldn't make it to (sorry boys!). We are handy like that. Apparently Carl also scored tickets to see our favorite band Ockham's Razor and our almost favorite band THE MOTHER FUCKING CHIEFTAINS play Sunday evening at Marymoor Park. Unf! So excited!

Carl and I just ran Ronan out at the park with a few other puppies. Now that he's tuckered out, he'll get to sleep the afternoon away in his kennel while Carl and I split and head out to 2 separate parties in 2 different areas of the state. Gotta represent!
For the first time in at least a month, we'll be home on a Sunday for the Broadway Farmer's Market. Then we're gone again for the next 2 weekends on camping trips, then I'm packing for Asia. This summer is going by so fast.

I'm currently reading Traveler's Tales: Thailand, recommended by my sister in preparation for our upcoming trip. Prevalent throughout the book is the cultural norm: "Mai Pen Rai".
Also:
I think we could all use a bit more "Mai Pen Rai" in our lives.
If you want to really understand Thai people you must come to grips with the Mai Pen Rai factor. Its not just a phrase its wa way of life. Literally meaning, it does not matter, it has come to be one of the great definers of the Thai character. Being able to deal with difficult situations, not brooding over material and personal loss and an all-pervading cheerfulness are the hallmarks of Mai Pen Rai. The philosophy of Mai Pen Rai is one of the things that makes Thais unique."
Also:
Technically, mai pen rai translates as It's nothing. Informally, we've seen quite a few loose translations:
Never mind.
It's cool.
Don't get mad, get glad.
Take it easy.
No worries.
Oh well, I can't do anything about it.
In short, mai pen rai is ultimately a philosophy of life: Bend with the wind, like a bamboo tree. And above all, keep smiling.

Beer and freshly-made rice krispie treats. Carl declared beer night. We haven't had alcohol in the house since Sunday.

I forgot to oil the foil. If you didn't know, I can't stand sticky on my hands. Peeling to foil off made me very twitchy.
So for realies, I'm making Mussaman Curry for dinner tonight. It's currently simmering on the stove. The smell is divine. I can't believe that I used to hate curry. It's so wonderfully complex.
Ronan and I bused this today. I had to pick up a toolbox and we stopped at Magnuson on the way home. Adventure!
